For many years I struggled with an unhealthy relationship with food which brought me to my heaviest weight in 2000. In the parking lot of the local Weight Watchers the tears flowed as I recalled the number I had just seen on the scale.

I knew at this point that I desperately needed to make some serious changes. However, something had to be different this time. There were so many attempts in the past to be consistent in making good choices with food as well as exercise only to go right back to my old habits.

 
 

Getting help was the first step. Had I known about health coaching that would have been an added bonus. Realizing for first time that this wasn’t just about food and exercise, this was about every part of me.

Dr. Tran Tien Chanh says in his book, Because It’s Your Life, "Foods do more than nourish us. If our stomachs were the only organ that decided on our diets we wouldn't have weight issues. The heart and the mind play a far bigger role."

Today I have a new mindset. I see the steps I have taken along the way, not as failures but as opportunities to learn, grow, and develop healthy habits. In 2011 I enrolled in a one-year personal training program. The missing piece came in 2020 when I graduated from Functional Medicine Coaching Academy and completed the National Board Exam in 2021. Now I am an official Board Certified Functional Medicine Health Coach.

You choose what you want to work on and where to begin. I, as your coach, encourage, motivate, and support you as you make new and lasting lifestyle changes. A vital component of the process involves purposeful conversation with change at its heart.
